REMINDER: SHANNON MUIR APPEARING AT ANIME LOS ANGELES JANUARY 5TH!: Anime Los Angeles is happening January 4-6, 2008, in Burbank, California at the Burbank Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. There the game plan is that I’ll be talking about animation writing and production, the topics discussed in my book GARDNER’S GUIDE TO WRITING AND PRODUCING ANIMATION, along with fellow animation writer and also animation producer Craig Miller. Catch us from 2-3 PM on January 5th (Saturday). The full program guide for Anime Los Angeles can be found at their website here. (posted January 5, 2008)

GARDNER'S GUIDE TO WRITING AND PRODUCING ANIMATION STILL AVAILABLE!:GARDNER'S GUIDE TO WRITING AND PRODUCING ANIMATION, the 'very animated' nonfiction book I've alluded to in the past that gives a prospective independent producer a snapshot of the production process from deciding what to produce to marketing the finished animation, is now available for ORDER at Amazon.com as well as Barnes and Noble's website, or any place that can order through distributors such as Ingram or Baker and Taylor (inquiries can also inquire direct with the Independent Publishers Group, who delivers from the publisher to these distributors). In the book's first three months of release, when it qualified as a New Release title, the book ranked as high as #10 in Amazon.com's category for Movies > Screenwriting and #23 in Movies > Direction and Production. Featured are Spotlight Interviews with 18 individuals from across all aspects of the animation field!  (posted January 5, 2008)

SHANNON MUIR ON PANEL FOR PACIFIC MEDIA EXPO ON NOVEMBER 10, 2007!: Sorry for the short notice, but I just got word that I will have a 60 minute programming slot at Pacific Media Expo, November 9-11 at the LAX Hilton. My panel's currently slated to be from noon to 1 that Saturday, focusing on Producing ADR vs. Original Animation in Pacific Ballroom B. Be sure to doublecheck the schedule for any last minute changes. This should be a great forum to compare producing American animation to bringing Japanese animation over here to the West. More info about the convention can be found here, and I'll give you more information as soon as the full programming is posted. (posted November 5, 2007)

CATCH DA CRAZE INTERVIEW: Catch Da Craze, a podcast covering music, comics, and all things independent, interviewed me about how I got into animation as well as my work on the webcomic FLYING GLORY AND THE HOUNDS OF GLORY, and my book, GARDNER'S GUIDE TO WRITING AND PRODUCING ANIMATION. Click here to hook up to the podcast. (posted October 17, 2007)
