Golf Sponsorships Sought to Help Save Historic Fox Fullerton Theatre
The Fullerton Historic Theatre Foundation invites sponsors to support its “Save the Fox Golf Tournament,” taking place August 18th at the Coyote Hills
Golf Course in Fullerton, California, with all proceeds going toward saving the Fox Fullerton Theatre,. This community-based nonprofit organization
formed two years ago to meet the challenge of saving the Fox Fullerton. The Fox Theatre was built by the same firm that built the legendary Grauman's
Chinese Theatre, the recently restored Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre, and hundreds of other notable Hollywood landmark buildings. It is one of the last
surviving courtyard theatres, and was the site of many previews and premieres.
Golfers will register for a $250 fee, with check in time at 12:00 p.m. and a format of a best ball scramble beginning at 1:00 p.m. The fee also
includes a silent auction, raffle and Award Banquet with Taste of the Southwest Buffet scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tournament prizes include longest drive,
closest to the pin and a hole-in-one contest. Corporate Sponsorships are available for $1,000 each, Family and Small Businesses can sponsor a hole for
$500. All sponsors will be mentioned on the GPS (global positioning system) available on each golf cart, as well as the website, program and print
advertising. Non-golfers may attend the dinner and awards banquet for $50. Deadline for registration is Saturday, August 14.
A design collaboration by Golf Course Architect Cal Olson and PGA pro Payne Stewart, Coyote Hills Golf Course was conceived to be one of the finest
public golf courses in Southern California. Coyote Hills’ crafty layout is fun to play for women and men alike, with the Par 70 course climbing the
hillside after hole two and continues changing elevations dramatically, so players never know what excitement lurks around the corner. Each hole is
unique and no yardage unbearable. The plush course, rich in color, is built right into the mountains, shaping many elevation changes, capturing
picturesque views of southern Orange County. The course has a beautiful clubhouse complete with pro shop, restaurant, locker rooms and event facilities.
The elegant 22,000 square foot clubhouse includes a unique banquet room with a panoramic view overlooking the waterfalls that backdrop the 18th green.
Additionally, Coyote Hills was rated one of the Top 100 Women Friendly Courses by Fairways magazine in 1998, and ranked in the top 50 by Golf for
Women.
For those who don't golf, the Fullerton Historic Theatre Foundation asks all those who care about restoring the Fox Fullerton to make a pledge now to
save it. The pledges will only be collected if the foundation raises sufficient funds necessary to purchase the theatre. The Save the Fox project was
given a challenge grant of $1.65 million by the City of Fullerton earlier this year, enabling the project to move over halfway toward its goal of raising
$3.5 million. The Foundation must match the challenge by November 2004 to buy the Fox and prevent it from demolition.
More information about Save the Fox is available by calling (714) 607-0884, and an informational flyer may be downloaded at www.SaveTheFox.org.
